Tel Aviv has witnessed a wide strike since Sunday morning, disrupting traffic and affecting several sectors, as mass protests led by families of captives in Gaza and relatives of war dead erupted.
The escalation, described by Hebrew media as a “people’s strike,” is part of a “week of protests” aimed at pressuring the government to secure an immediate deal to return the captives, even if it means halting the fighting and ending the war on Gaza.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the demonstrations began symbolically at 6:29 AM, the exact time marking the start of the October 7, 2023, events, a reminder that the consequences of that day are still unfolding.
Large segments of settlers are taking part in the strike and protests, which are expected to intensify and peak in the evening outside government and key occupation offices in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
