An 'Israeli' drone was shot down on Saturday in the rugged terrain of the Hermel region in eastern Lebanon.

 

According to the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA), the drone fell in the Wadi Fisan area, prompting the Lebanese army to deploy forces to the site.

 

The incident highlights ongoing violations of the 2024 ceasefire agreement between 'Israel' and Lebanon, which was brokered by the United States after more than a year of conflict between Hezbollah and 'Israeli' forces. Despite the agreement, 'Israel' has reportedly continued daily airstrikes and demolition operations in southern Lebanon.

 

The 2024 deal stipulates that Hezbollah withdraw from the border areas, dismantle its military infrastructure, and that all weapons remain under the control of official Lebanese authorities. It also calls for 'Israel' to pull back from positions it had occupied during the conflict.

 

However, 'Israel' has maintained forces at five strategic heights and continues to carry out strikes it claims target Hezbollah operatives and facilities.

 

The downing of the drone underscores the fragile security situation along the Lebanon-Israel border and the ongoing challenges in enforcing the ceasefire.
