Syrian President Bashar al-Assad held a phone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani to discuss recent developments in Syria and joint efforts to combat terrorism, according to a statement from the Syrian Presidency.
The talks addressed Arab and international issues, with Al-Sudani emphasizing that the security of Syria and Iraq is interconnected, according to RT.
He reaffirmed Iraq's commitment to supporting Syria in its fight against terrorism and maintaining its stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The discussion follows recent militant attacks and the capture of large areas in Aleppo, its countryside, and Idlib by armed groups, as part of an operation they called "Deterring Aggression" launched last Wednesday.
