Jordan’s Armed Forces deliver extensive humanitarian Aid to Gaza Amid Ongoing Crisis
Roya News
Under royal directives, the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) have mobilized substantial resources to support Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank since the onset of the war on Oct. 7, 2023. Their efforts, encompassing humanitarian, medical, and logistical assistance, underscore Jordan’s steadfast commitment to the Palestinian cause.
Field Hospitals and Medical Aid
The JAF established the first military field hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza, at the start of the aggression. Additional medical reinforcements included expanding the northern Gaza hospital and setting up a third field hospital in Nablus. These facilities have treated over 521,066 patients and performed 21,147 surgeries, including complex procedures, while addressing the needs of 55,722 war casualties.
To sustain medical operations, the JAF conducted large-scale airlifts of critical supplies. Royal directives led to 125 air drops within Gaza, complemented by 266 joint operations with international partners. Supplies included medicines, food, and essential goods.
Comprehensive Humanitarian Response
Jordan’s humanitarian air bridge to Gaza, operating from Marka Military Airport to Al-Arish Airport in Egypt, has transported 53 flights carrying over 8,865 tons of aid. Additionally, 140 ground convoys comprising 5,063 trucks have delivered crucial resources, improving living conditions for thousands in Gaza.
A highlight of the efforts was the participation of King Abdullah II, Crown Prince Hussein, and Princess Salma in airlift operations, reflecting the Hashemite family’s commitment to the Palestinian cause.
Pioneering Initiatives
The JAF launched the “Restore Hope” initiative on Sept. 16, 2024, to provide prosthetic limbs to Gaza’s amputees. Mobile clinics, staffed by specialists, have fitted 267 artificial limbs to date. Plans are also underway to deploy a specialized military hospital for maternal and neonatal care, featuring surgical facilities, 30 patient beds, and a team of 82 professionals, including 55 female medical staff.
Continued Support
Jordan’s Ministry of Health, in coordination with the JAF, has bolstered Gaza's blood supply with 2,000 units to address the escalating need due to ongoing surgeries. These efforts highlight Jordan’s unwavering solidarity with Gaza amidst the humanitarian crisis.
Jordan’s comprehensive humanitarian mission reflects its dedication to alleviating the suffering of Palestinians and reaffirms its central role in supporting regional stability and peace.
