Jordan announces launch of air bridge to send aid to Gaza

Roya News

Jordan announced Tuesday the launch of a royal directive to send a fleet of planes carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza.

In a statement to Roya, it was revealed that as part of Jordan's ongoing humanitarian efforts, the Jordanian Armed Forces will launch the "Airlift Operation" to deliver urgent relief, food, and medical supplies to Gaza.

The operation will use military helicopters to transport aid via the Karara crossing in Gaza, strategically chosen for its location linking northern and southern areas of the Strip, ensuring swift delivery to various regions.

The airlift, spanning eight days, will deploy 16 flights daily, delivering essential supplies, including urgently needed medications and medical equipment.

This initiative builds on Jordan’s continuous support for Gaza, which included dispatching eight planes carrying seven tons of aid in November 2024.

Several allied and friendly nations are also expected to participate in the humanitarian mission, which will be coordinated with the World Food Programme (WFP). WFP teams in Gaza will handle the distribution of aid to those in need.

Since the onset of the aggression on Gaza, Jordan has sent over 5,500 trucks loaded with aid to the Strip, reaffirming its steadfast commitment to supporting Palestinians during these challenging times.
