The UN Secretary-General expressed concern over the announced pause in US foreign assistance, emphasizing the need for exemptions to support critical humanitarian and development activities for vulnerable communities.

 

He urged collaboration with the new US administration to ensure continued aid for those facing severe challenges, highlighting the importance of the United States as a major aid provider in shaping a strategic way forward.

 

This came after the United States has frozen its foreign aid, excluding military assistance to Egypt and “Israel” as well as emergency food aid, pending a comprehensive review to determine alignment with President Donald Trump’s policy priorities.
