The Jordan Medical Association (JMA) announced on Saturday that it has referred a doctor to its disciplinary council for violating the official fee schedule issued by the syndicate.
The announcement was made by Dr. Hazem Al-Qarala, the Head of the JMA's Media Committee, who stated that the doctor in question serves as the director of a private hospital in Amman.
According to Qarala, the decision to refer the doctor stems from non-compliance with the fee schedule, which was officially published and came into effect earlier this week.
- Fee schedule now in effect -
The syndicate instructed all doctors to implement the new fee schedule, which took effect on Saturday. Under the new regulations, doctors are required to collect fees directly from patients in cash while providing invoices to facilitate reimbursement from insurance companies.
Dr. Qarala noted that some insurance companies have opposed the syndicate's fee schedule and proposed their own alternative rates. However, the syndicate has firmly rejected these proposals, emphasizing that the officially approved fee schedule is the only valid standard for medical fees.
- Support and compliance -
Scientific associations affiliated with the syndicate have expressed their full support for the new fee schedule and have urged doctors to comply with the council’s decisions.
Qarala reiterated that all medical treatments and services must adhere strictly to the new regulations.
The syndicate called on all parties, including insurance companies and healthcare providers, to comply with the law, stressing that it applies to everyone without exception.
